Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs)

Being open, clear and accountable matters to us.

The Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs) are a national standard that give social housing tenants clearer access to information about how their homes and services are managed. They are designed to help tenants understand what their landlord does, how decisions are made and how services are performing.

At Great Places, openness and transparency are already part of how we work. Much of the information required under STAIRs is information we already share with our tenants. This section of our website simply brings that information together in one place, using a clear and consistent structure so it is easy to find and understand.

STAIRs focus on non personal information about housing services and management. They sit alongside – not instead of – other rights and routes, such as complaints or subject access requests for personal data. We will always balance openness with our responsibility to protect personal data, confidential information, and the privacy of others.

We will continue to review and update the information we publish here to make sure it remains accurate, relevant, and useful for our tenants, and to reflect feedback from residents and regulators.

What information is included?

Under STAIRs, housing providers are required to routinely publish information across a number of broad areas, such as:

  • how the organisation is run and makes decisions
  • how money is managed and spent
  • how homes and services are delivered
  • how we are performing

We have organised the information on this website using these same categories to help tenants find what they are looking for quickly and easily.

Requesting information

We will publish clear guidance on how to make a STAIRs request, how we will respond, and what to expect, closer to the implementation date.
