Support and accommodation for men and women aged 18-65 who are stepping down from supported accommodation.

The Harbour is a floating support accommodation offer from Great Places Housing Group comprising two sites in the Longsight area of Manchester; Birch Lane and Laindon Road.

Both sites house eight fully contained flats which offer temporary 12-month move-on accommodation through Manchester’s’ Homelessness pathway, with a floating support offer.

This floating support includes weekly contact from a Housing and Wellbeing Officer and fortnightly one-to-one wellbeing sessions to work on five person-centred goals within the following categories; home, physical, mental, financial and social.

The Harbour aims to support customers who have experienced homelessness to:

  • Maintain a stable accommodation
  • Gain independence and improve wellbeing
  • Support, encourage and empower customers
  • Work with those whose previous tenancies have failed
  • Work with those who were previously ‘Street Homeless’
  • Supporting customers to move on to suitable permanent accommodation
  • Partnership working to prevent and tackle homelessness
  • Support is for medium to low needs and includes housing management, move-on, finance support and linking to key external partnerships (i.e. Change Grow Live – CGL, social worker) and multi-disciplinary team meetings (MTDs).
  • Move On is supported by the officer and the pathways are via Manchester Move or the Private rented sector with an offer of support from Manchester City Council.

Referrals are taken directly from Project 394 (Riverside project), Docherty project, Next Step, Brydon Court and Newbury House through the MAS system and can be made at any time.
