Great Places has secured Government-backed funding to help improve heating and hot water services for customers living in homes connected to heat networks.
The funding has been awarded through the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES), which supports organisations to improve the efficiency and reliability of existing heat networks across England and Wales.
As part of the latest funding round, Great Places has secured more than £492,700 to improve the heat network at Byrons in the North West, which serves 40 residents. The investment will fund a range of upgrades designed to improve performance, reduce heat loss and help the system operate more efficiently. Planned improvements include upgrades to controls, pumps, thermal storage, insulation and metering technology.
Great Places has also secured funding to carry out detailed studies at Pullman Close, Castlecroft House and Runnymede Court. These studies will help identify further ways to improve the performance of heat networks and enhance the customer experience.

Alongside the improvements planned at Byrons, the optimisation studies will help us identify further opportunities to improve services and make sure our heat networks continue to meet customers’ needs in the future.
Heat networks provide heating and hot water to many customers living in apartment buildings and retirement living schemes. By investing in these systems, Great Places is continuing its work to improve existing homes, deliver excellent customer services and support its sustainability ambitions.
