Sophia came to Wybourn Works on her GCSE results day last summer, knowing she had an interest in the armed forces and mental health but not knowing how to get there. Having low confidence in her maths and English, fitness and people skills; meeting Paul Coleman (Team Leader – Jobs Plus) and Mandy Green (Youth Community Champion Officer) kickstarted her journey to turning this around through their holistic support, including through her challenging period of homelessness, and their links with MPCT.

MPCT (Military Preparation College for Training) are a military training academy for 16+ year olds to develop their fitness as well as vocational qualifications and employability skills, setting them up for employment, including within the armed forces. With a barracks just up the road from Wybourn, they are a strong partner of Wybourn Works, with several of our alumni enrolled onto their course through the programme.
