At the turn of the year, Charles was at his lowest ebb.
After the break-up of a relationship, Charles found himself on the streets – sleeping rough and trying to find a new home.
But when he was put in touch with Great Places, his life changed completely. Now, he has a beautiful flat in Nelson and he’s kept himself busy creating a community garden near his home.
He said: “I used to live in Colne, until I split up with my partner and then I became homeless. I was living in a tent, old sheds, anywhere I could get really because the winter months were really bad and hard.
“When I was homeless, it was really hard. You felt like you were on your own, you had no support. When it was dark, you never knew if you were going to be attacked. It was hard, it was really hard.
“If Great Places hadn’t have got in touch with me, I’d probably still be sleeping rough. A lot of people were just shutting doors and not listening. A lot of them don’t listen but Great Places did and I can’t thank them enough.”
