Last night was one to remember at the Northern Housing Awards, with Great Places winning two prestigious awards!

We’re delighted to say that we won both the Home Builder of the Year award and that The Docherty Project, our Independence and Wellbeing (I&W) scheme for people who are experiencing homelessness and alcohol dependency, won Supported/Sheltered Scheme of the Year.

We were also proud to be shortlisted for Best Affordable Housing Development (£15M+) for Worrall Street, Salford; and Best Customer Experience (Plumlife).

The awards were presented at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at The Point in Manchester.

Commenting on the Docherty Team’s win, our Director of I&W, Andrew Gray, said:

It was great to see the Docherty Project recognised in this way. The Project works with some of the most vulnerable and complex people in the community, many of whom would otherwise be in long-term hospital and residential care. The project is widely seen as an exemplar service, and over recent years we have expanded our offer with additional resources to offer greater levels of support for more people. I am very proud of the team as they deliver such an excellent and essential service, and they really deserve the award.

Director of Development Nick Gornall was equally as delighted with the Home Builder of the Year award, commenting:

It’s fantastic for Great Places to win this award for the second time in three years. It’s great recognition for the whole team, and I couldn’t be prouder of them all.

Our CEO, Alison Dean, also attended the event and added:

These awards and shortlistings are brilliant recognition for the amazing work our colleagues do for our customers every day. A massive thank you and well done from me and the Exec Team to everyone involved!
