At Great Places, we’re committed to helping customers create safe, comfortable homes and sometimes that means going beyond bricks and mortar. Over the past few years, we’ve built strong partnerships with local charities to provide pre-owned furniture, household appliances, and even recycled paint to customers in need across the central region.
Who we work with
- Emmaus – covering Bolton, Bury and Little Hulton
- The Brick – supporting Wigan
- SAWN – serving Oldham and Rochdale
These partnerships make a real difference. As our Tenancy Coach, Donna Clegg said:
I have referred several customers to SAWN and the service they provide is excellent. They accommodate wherever they can and often go above and beyond based on the complexity and needs of the customer. An invaluable resource that gives our customers hope and helps build their confidence and trust that they are not alone.
Why it matters
Working with partners in this way brings many benefits:
- Environmental impact: Buying used furniture reduces landfill waste and lowers carbon footprints.
- Cost-of-living support: Affordable furniture helps customers maintain their tenancy during challenging times.
- Community sustainability: Supporting these organisations helps them generate income to cover operational costs and continue their vital work.
Tony Stephenson, CEO of Emmaus Bolton:
Homelessness charity Emmaus Bolton is pleased to support Great Places with the supply of good quality, preloved furniture to help customers get a fresh start in their new homes.
SAWN:
Thank you to Great Places for funding SAWN’s furniture van and providing grant funding for furniture packs. Together, we’re supporting families, including those fleeing domestic violence and individuals starting afresh – while reducing our carbon footprint.
This initiative is about more than furniture – by working together, we’re making a positive impact for customers and the planet.
