This summer, colleagues from across Community Investment and Neighbourhoods in the Central Region joined forces to host a number of community events in Oldham and Rochdale, bringing customers together for fun and community spirit.
The events took place across four neighbourhoods, including areas with a large number of newly built homes. This created a great opportunity for new and existing customers to get to know one another.
Customers of all ages came along to enjoy a range of free activities, including arts and crafts, sports day games, giant board games and community litter picks. There were also refreshments available throughout the events, giving everyone the chance to relax, chat and spend time together.
The feedback from customers was really positive, with many people telling us they enjoyed meeting neighbours they had not spoken to before and appreciated having an opportunity to get involved in their local community.
Alongside the activities, we also spoke with customers about their neighbourhoods and gathered valuable feedback about our services and how we can continue to improve. In Oldham, some events also provided an opportunity to hear customers views on local community spaces and future improvements.

What makes a good neighbour?
Throughout the summer, we also ran a ‘what makes a good neighbour?’ poster competition, encouraging young people to get creative and share their ideas about being a good neighbour.
We received some fantastic entries, with children highlighting the importance of kindness, helping others, respecting where they live and looking out for neighbours.
We’re delighted that so many customers joined us throughout the summer and would like to thank everyone who came along. We look forward to hosting more community events in the future and continuing to bring people together across our neighbourhoods.
