At Great Places, we believe in creating opportunities that inspire and empower our communities, and the recent visit to Parliament by pupils from St Mary’s RC Primary School in Stockport was a shining example of that mission in action.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts between our team and local partners, including Stockport County Community Trust, children from St Mary’s were able to travel to London and experience the heart of British democracy first-hand. The visit was part of our wider commitment to supporting holiday clubs and enriching activities for young people across Stockport.

Hosted by Navendu Mishra, MP for Stockport, the pupils had the chance to explore Parliament and engage in lively discussions. Mr. Mishra later shared his appreciation in a heartfelt letter, noting the children’s enthusiasm and the challenging questions they posed, proof of their curiosity and pride in their local community.

We’re proud that our work is helping to broaden horizons and spark ambition in the next generation. As Mr. Mishra highlighted, “despite the challenges facing the housing sector, initiatives like these are making a real difference”. By continuing to work closely with local stakeholders, we’re confident we can achieve even more.

This wasn’t simply a day away, it was a chance to exchange ideas, build connections and leave inspired. We’re truly thankful to everyone who made it possible and excited about creating more opportunities like this in the future.
