Last week, Kirith Entwistle (MP for Bolton North East) joined our Director of Independence and Wellbeing and colleagues from the team for a visit to Sarah Lodge in Bolton.

Sarah Lodge provides temporary supported accommodation for young women aged 18–30 who are either pregnant or have children under five, or for men aged 18–30 with young children, who are in need of housing and support. It’s a vital service that helps families build brighter futures.

During the visit, we spoke with a customer who shared her inspiring story and her hopes for the future as she prepared to move on to live independently, a powerful reminder of why supported housing matters.

Great Places is proud to be supporting the National Housing Federation’s ‘Starts at Home Day 2025’ campaign, which is building on their ‘Save our Supported Housing’ campaign and calling for action for supported housing in crisis.

A huge thank you to our Independence and Wellbeing Team for hosting the visit: Andrew Gray, Kelly-Marie Jackson, Sarah Phethean, Sophie Belshaw and Hazel Southgate.
