Winter weather can arrive before we know it, so now is a good time to make sure your home is ready for the colder months ahead.

Taking just a few minutes to check your heating and look for any potential issues now could help you avoid problems later when temperatures start to drop.

  1. Check for draughts
Take a look around your doors and windows for any gaps that could let cold air in. Draught excluders can be a simple and cost-effective way to help keep your home warmer.
  2. Test your heating
Don’t wait until the first cold spell to switch your heating on. Turn it on for a short time now and check that your radiators are warming up properly. If something doesn’t seem right, let us know as soon as possible.
  3. Give your radiators some space
Furniture placed directly in front of radiators can stop heat from circulating around a room. Moving sofas, chairs or other large items a little further away can help your home heat up more efficiently.
  4. Check your radiators
If parts of a radiator feel cold while the rest is warm, it may need attention. If you’re unsure what to do, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
  5. Check your boiler pressure
Most boilers have a pressure gauge. If the pressure is outside the recommended range shown on your boiler, check the manufacturer’s guidance or contact us for advice.

A few minutes now could save you a problem later.

Checking your heating before winter arrives can help you spot issues early and make sure your home stays warm and comfortable when you need it most.

If you’re having problems with your heating, please report them as soon as possible so we can help get them resolved before demand increases during colder weather.
