The first ten of 49 new Shared Ownership homes have been handed over to Great Places at our new development in Norden, Rochdale.

Delivered in partnership with Stonebond, the scheme has been designed to meet local housing needs and provide accessible homeownership opportunities for the Rochdale community. The remaining 39 homes will be handed over in the coming months.

This milestone marks significant progress on a site that has been earmarked for housing since 2004. Thanks to Brownfield Grant Funding from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Stonebond has successfully unlocked the land, paving the way for much-needed affordable homes.

Demand for the development has been exceptional, with more than 1,000 people registering their interest through Great Places – a clear sign of the need for high-quality, affordable housing in the area.

Nick Gornall, our Director of Development, said:

We’re delighted to reach this important milestone in Norden. These new homes will provide much-needed affordable homes for local people and help meet the strong demand we’re seeing across Rochdale. Working in partnership with Stonebond and with support from the Brownfield Housing Fund, we’ve been able to unlock a site that has been earmarked for housing for many years, transforming it into a vibrant community.

Mark Russell, Managing Director of Stonebond Manchester, added:

The fact that more than 1,000 people have come forward to express their interest in these new homes really shows the local need that exists for more quality, affordable housing in Rochdale. Our long-term partnership with Great Places is helping to unlock housing sites and deliver affordable homes at scale across the region.

Councillor Danny Meredith, cabinet member for housing and regeneration at Rochdale Borough Council, said:

We know that there is an increasing need for high quality and affordable housing across the borough and it is great to see more affordable homes being delivered on empty brownfield sites such as this.

This development is a fantastic example of how collaboration can deliver high-quality, sustainable homes that make a real difference to local communities.
