Great Places’ Sustainability Team recently hosted a successful customer engagement event at our Pat Midgley Community Hub in Wybourn, to launch the start of our Warm Homes programme to deliver energy efficiency improvements to homes in our Sheffield Anchor Neighbourhood.
The Wybourn Warm Homes programme is part funded through our partnership with Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) – a local government body focused on economic growth, housing, and energy initiatives in the North East – and aims to make a real difference to households by improving comfort and reducing energy bills.
Over the next three years, we plan to upgrade 310 properties in the Wybourn area, helping customers to enjoy warmer, more energy-efficient homes. The project forms a key part of our commitment to the ongoing regeneration and long-term sustainability of homes in our Sheffield Anchor Neighbourhood and to make the necessary improvements to achieve an EPC C standard across all of our 26,000 homes by 2030.
The event gave customers the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming works, ask questions, and meet the teams who will be delivering these improvements – from our funding partners to the contractors carrying out the work.
Customers enjoyed the informal coffee morning chatting with Great Places colleagues, consortium partners, and contractors Connolly’s and Parcor. These conversations provided valuable reassurance and clarity on the process, addressing any concerns and ensuring our customers feel informed and supported.
To thank attendees, our Sustainability Team handed out free warm packs and information packs detailing the energy-saving measures planned for their homes. These sessions are a vital part of building strong relationships with our customers and ensuring they feel involved every step of the way.
Commenting on the event, Heather Towner, our Sustainability Manager, said:
We were delighted with the positive response to our engagement morning to kick off the start of the Warm Homes programme in Wybourn. These improvements will not only help customers feel more comfortable in their homes but also reduce energy bills and support our wider sustainability goals.
Meeting customers face-to-face was invaluable and gave us the chance to answer questions and ensure everyone feels confident about the changes ahead.
