The rain couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the North team at a community clean-up event on Glenfield Close in Blackburn.

Neighbourhood Services Manager Mary Brown led the event with support from colleagues to give the neighbourhood a spruce up and provide an opportunity for services to engage with the community.

Partners from Lancashire Police were on-site and took in a number of knives as part of Operation Sceptre, as well as engaging with customers.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were also there to carry out fire risk assessments, which picked up a number of issues which will be acted upon.

Customers also got the chance to make their own hanging baskets thanks to the Adult Learning Service, who  took a number of referrals.

The team, with help from the Youth Zone Team, helped to fill two skips as well as identify and solve a number of issues across the estate, with Groundworks helping a customer with her meters.

Overall, a fantastic event so well done to everyone who made it such a success.
