It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the sudden and unexpected passing of our great friend and colleague, Simon Robinson.

Simon was part of the fabric of Great Places, having been a valued and constant presence in our organisation for 25 years. Throughout that time, he never faltered from being supportive and caring. He was deeply knowledgeable and his passion for housing, communities, and delivering the best-possible services and outcomes for our customers was evident in everything he did.

Simon was not only a respected and trusted colleague, but also a good friend to so many of our team members, past and present. His gentle, supportive and unflappable nature earned the admiration of everyone he worked with. There was nothing he didn’t know about Great Places, and his wisdom will be sorely missed.

At the heart of everyone’s fond memories are Simon’s kind, diplomatic yet funny character: how he always found common ground with colleagues; his ability to stay calm (and calm others) in stressful situations; his sense of how to do right by our customers; his belief in and support of other colleagues; his passion for coaching to help people fulfil their potential; his dry sense of humour; and of course, his unwavering love for Manchester City FC.

His legacy will live on every day in our work and interactions, and our love and thoughts are very much with Simon’s family at this difficult time.
