The leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council Phil Riley did the honours as the mixed-tenure Water’s Edge development was officially launched. Click here to see a film from the day.

The 205-home development is a mix of market sale, 20 for shared ownership via Plumlife Homes and 37 affordable rent apartments for NHS staff at the hospital on the opposite side of Haslingden Road.

Guests from all partners heard speeches from Mr Riley, our own Nick Cumberland and Keepmoat’s Land and Partnership Director Katie Dean before a tour around Keepmoat’s and Plumlife’s show homes.

Nick said: “As an organisation, we have a long history of working in East Lancashire, especially Blackburn, and it’s fantastic to see the transformation of the site into a vibrant new neighbourhood.

“We are committed in doing our part in tackling the housing crisis and this mixed tenure offering has proved very popular with the customers and will provide much-needed housing to the area.

“Our partnership with Keepmoat and Blackburn with Darwen Council is strong and is helping the people in the area gain access to quality housing and we look forward to working closely together again in the future.”
