Safety guidance for communal passenger lifts and personal lifting equipment

At Great Places, your safety is our top priority. Please follow these simple steps to help keep lifts and lifting equipment safe for everyone.

Communal Passenger Lifts

  • Report problems straight away – If the lift isn’t working properly – for example, it feels jerky or makes unusual noises – please report it through the HUB.
  • Don’t overload the lift – Check the maximum weight limit displayed inside the lift and make sure you don’t exceed it.
  • Keep doors clear – Never block or force open the lift doors. This can damage the lift and create a safety risk.
  • If you get stuck – Press the emergency button inside the lift. Our team aims to respond to entrapment calls within one hour.
  • Children and pets – Always supervise children and pets when using the lift.

Personal Lifting Equipment (such as stair lifts, hoists, and platform lifts)

  • Regular servicing - We arrange routine checks by qualified contractors. If you notice a fault, report it straight away.
  • Use safely - Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If you’re unsure or feel unsafe, stop using the equipment and contact us.
  • Keep the area clear - Make sure there are no obstacles around the equipment to prevent accidents or damage.
  • Allow access for maintenance - Please give our contractors access for scheduled inspections and servicing. This helps keep your equipment safe and compliant.
