At Great Places, we know how important play and gym areas are for our communities. They provide safe spaces for children to learn and grow, and for adults to stay active and healthy. These areas help bring people together, encouraging social interaction and wellbeing.
We’re responsible for making sure all play and adult exercise areas – including the equipment – are safe and fit for purpose for everyone who uses them.
Our contractors carry out cyclical inspections of play and gym areas. They are accredited by the Register of Play Inspectors International (RPII) – an independent body that ensures inspectors meet safety standards (BS EN 1176) and legal requirements.
We complete risk assessments and take any necessary steps to address issues quickly and effectively.
We have systems in place to carry out repairs to play and exercise equipment and areas, whether planned or in response to reported issues.
Great Places makes sure all play and gym areas are regularly inspected by qualified contractors. These contractors are approved by the Register of Play Inspectors International (RPII) – an independent organisation that checks inspectors meet safety standards (BS EN 1176) and legal requirements.
We also carry out risk assessments for each area to keep them safe.
The cost of inspections and maintenance comes from your service charges. This includes things like replacing worn-out surfaces, fencing, signs, and equipment when they reach the end of their life.
Following every operational and Annual Inspections, the reports will be uploaded to our website along with monthly updates on works being carried out.
If you spot an issue, please let us know straight away so we can fix it quickly. You can:
Use our online form: Include the name of the play/gym area, details of the problem, and upload photos if you can.
We’ll visit the site within 24 hours to check the issue.
Minor repairs may be done by our own team.
For serious problems, we’ll bring in specialist contractors. If equipment needs removing, we’ll take it away. If that’s not possible, we’ll cordon off the area with a clear ‘Do not use’ sign and check it daily until repairs are completed.
If you notice any problems – such as broken equipment, vandalism, fly tipping, or other hazards – please let us know by completing our online form.
If you have an enquiry or issue you’d like to get in touch with us about, please complete the online form below providing as much information as possible and a member of the team will look to get back in touch with you within 3 working days.
