THE £3.4million Bowland House refurbishment project in Blackburn will transform lives in more ways than one.

For Great Places tenant Nicola Campbell, it’s been a step on to the employment ladder thanks to the More Positive Together project.

Nicola, 50, a mum-of-four, signed up to MPT project to help her find a job that she could fit around childcare.

So when the Covid cleaner role came up at Bowland House with contractors Caseys, the team helped Nicola apply for the role as it was the perfect fit for her and her family.

Employability and skills coach Kerry Connors and Community Partnership Manager Aateeka Bashir worked with Nicola to help her apply and she was successful.

Her role includes regularly cleaning surfaces and door handles to ensure tenants and the workforce remain as safe as possible during the works.

She said:

I’ve been a Great Places tenant for more than 20 years and they have always been a fantastic landlord.

And they were really helpful when I was looking for a job that I could work around my family life. They helped prepare me for the interview and get me my DBS check completed.

I was so happy to get the job and it’s been fantastic. Casey’s have been brilliant and working alongside the people from Great Places and the tenants has been great.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped me and I hope it leads to something else in the future.
