Work is progressing in preparation for submission of plans for Russell Road towards to the end of next month.

Thanks to everyone who shared their views on our plans as part of the consultation. Following the consultation and further discussions with the planning team at Manchester City Council, we’ve been working with the project architects Triangle to make some slight changes to our initial designs ahead of submitting final plans at the end of May. We’ll look to share information and images of the updated designs as soon as we can.

Alongside the consultation, initial site investigations have continued along with co-production with the Community Steering Group (CSG). The CSG met with the design team in March to hear feedback on the planning meeting and to discuss the potential changes. In April, the group visited the LGBT Foundation archive in the Central Library, Manchester, to learn about the archive and how it documents the rich LGBTQ+ history in Manchester. Further visits are planned to review the contents of the archive to see how this can contribute to the development of the scheme, for example in relation to its interior design and the eventual name of the building. Upcoming activities for the CSG will include presentations from speakers on topics including Psychological Safety and involvement in selecting an Interior Designer for the scheme.

LGBT Foundation has also put together a brief survey to help inform the development of the scheme for people over 45, living in Manchester who identify as LGBTQ+ and this has been shared via a number of partners and mailing lists. If you’re interested in taking part in the survey you can access it here: https://form.jotform.com/240573711815051

Thanks again for everyone’s ongoing support and we look forward to continuing to keep you up to date as to the latest developments as the project continues.
