Great Places has successfully secured government funding to continue work to improve the energy efficiency of its homes.

The £1.4 million is part of £778 million that has been offered to 107 projects for Wave 2.1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund. Match funded by Great Places it will be used support the installation of energy performance measures such as exterior wall insulation, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, and solar panels.

Commenting on the announcement Pete Bojar, our Executive Director of Sustainable Assets, said:

We’re delighted with news of this very welcome funding as we continue to look to make our homes as green as possible. Our successful bids with the Greater Manchester and Tees Valley Combined Authorities will help cover 50% of the costs to improve EPC ratings in a total of 396 of our homes in Manchester and Sheffield.

We also continue to plan future projects which will support our programme to get 3,300 homes below EPC C by 2028 and continue to keep a close eye on government support which may help us to realise our ambitions even sooner.
