We are looking for ethnically diverse social housing customers, and community groups who support these customers, to join us for our first ever Racial Equality Community Partnership Event.

The event will help us explore the experiences of ethnically diverse customers within social housing so that we can learn from these experiences and provide better services for all of our customers. The event will also help us build connections with community groups to improve our ways of working together.

Whilst we recognise and value we are all individuals, and would prefer to avoid terminology that places people into an over generalised group, we accept that we need to be clear on the focus of this event and as such have consulted with a wide group of individuals to agree their own preferred term as Ethnically Diverse. Our definition of ethnically diverse is anyone who personally identifies as being from Black, Asian and other minority ethnic communities, including white European.

We want to make sure that we are supporting our ethnically diverse customers as best as we can. This might be based on cultural need, ethnic differences, supporting migrant or refugee communities, adapting communication methods, or understanding translation and interpretation needs. We need you to help us understand how we can improve our service offer and improve the experiences of Ethnically Diverse customers.

The event takes place on Thursday, 18th April from 10am – 1pm at Primrose Centre, 9 Magnolia Gardens, Oldham OL8 1HX.

There will be two workshop sessions taking place across the morning from 10am – 12pm, one for social housing customers and one for community organisations. A networking lunch will also take place from 12pm – 1pm with the opportunity to meet other social housing tenants and local community groups for a chat. Lunch will be provided by local caterer AB SNAX.

Places for the event will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis so please make sure to register if you’d like to attend. We are also able to offer support with travel costs, please include this in your registration.

You can register by filling in our online registration form below, or calling 0161 447 5031.

If you are unable to attend but would still like to share feedback, please get involved by emailing EDI@greatplaces.org.uk. Your feedback/views will be used within the workshop discussions on the day.
