Since starting in February 2024, our Customer Committee has been working closely with us to improve services and make sure we’re really listening to what customers need. The group includes two Board members and seven customers from across Manchester, Greater Manchester, Sheffield and Stockport, and they help make sure the customer voice is heard at the highest level.
What the Customer Committee has been up to
In their first year, the Committee has been busy making a real difference. Here’s what they’ve done:
- Helped shape important strategies like how we manage customer experience and our homes.
- Looked at how we’re performing and challenged us when things weren’t up to scratch—especially around repairs and customer service.
- Helped create a new dashboard to keep track of performance and how we’re doing in key areas.
- Took a deep dive into customer satisfaction results, focusing on complaints and repairs.
- Joined sessions to learn more about customer communications, Plumlife and other services.
- Completed training with support from the Board Development Agency.
- Met with the Insight Scrutiny Group to explore how the groups can work better together.
- Took part in the recruitment of our new Chief Executive, Alison Dean.
- Joined the Board on a tour of homes across Greater Manchester.
What’s coming next?
Looking ahead to 2025/26, the Committee are hoping to:
- Keep reviewing key strategies and making sure service improvements, like repairs and complaints, are on track.
- Check how we’re doing against our Corporate Plan.
- See how our new customer communications system is helping improve service.
- Review how we’re collecting and using customer data to make services more inclusive.
- Learn more about our Community Investment work and how local funds are being used.
- Hear updates from different service teams to see how things are going.
- Help with future recruitment of senior leaders to make sure the customer voice is part of the process.
