Rochdale AFC Community Trust and Great Places Housing Group are teaming up to address unemployment in Rochdale.

Dale’s official charity, whose mission is to make Rochdale a better place to live, work and play, recently delivered Dale Works, an innovative employability programme that focuses on the newly unemployed as well as those furthest away from the job market with two distinct courses.

Delivered online and at the Crown Oil Arena Study Centre, the programme saw over 80 per cent of participants achieve a positive outcome.

Great Places, a housing association with over 700 properties in the borough, work tirelessly to ensure its customers and wider community get the support it needs and the partnership with AFC Rochdale will give the more people the opportunity for training with aim of getting back into work.

Great Places is providing a £10,000 investment into the Dale Works programme which will see specialist staff brought in to expand the programme.

Rebecca Cremin, Partnerships Manager at Great Places, said:

We provide a number of opportunities for our customers to access training opportunities and by investing in the Dale Works programme we hope to expand this offer and support those we previously haven’t engaged with.

Ryan Bradley, Community Director at Rochdale AFC, added:

I am delighted to work with Great Places again. We both share the same values and vision and by working together we can have a greater impact.

Partnership working is essential to our growth and with community minded companies such as Great Places supporting us as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility agenda we can have a positive impact on even more people.

Over the next 12 months, it is hoped that an additional 50 people will be supported into employment.
