After a time of extra spending and unexpected payments, many families are struggling even more than usual after Christmas, as the cost of living crisis continues. If you’re struggling, we have experts on hand to help you make the most of your income and provide advice – just email moneymatters@greatplaces.org.uk. We also have our cost of living pages with plenty of information and advice on our website, and below we’ve provided some highlights that we hope could be helpful to you.

It’s important that you know about payments you may be entitled to. You can check out this article on Cost-of-living payments: Three instalments totalling £900 confirmed – BBC News – as customers on certain benefits will be entitled to further payments to help. If you haven’t received your previous payments, you can report this via Cost of Living Payment – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

You can also check the Household Support Fund of £500 million that the Government has launched to help vulnerable households across the country with essentials over the winter. This scheme should primarily be given to household who need  help with food and energy bill costs. The support that’s available varies between councils, so you’ll need to check with your local council what help is available in the region you live in. Check yours here: https://www.gov.uk/find-local-council

Additional things that Great Places can help you with include:

– Gas and Electric bills through our partnership with National Energy Action (fuel vouchers available)

– Jobs & Employment – for customers who may be looking for employment, we have specialised Employability Coach who can provide personalised help, advice and support to help you into employment.

– If you are struggling to maintain your tenancy for any reason at all (Financial, Mental Health, Physical Health or any other factors) we want to help you. We also have a specialised Tenancy Coach service that tailors a programme with you and can help you with any issues you may be having, so do get in touch if this sounds like it could help.
