We’re pleased to confirm your improvement works are due to start.

Below you will find an example of a Typical Schedule of Works, and also some useful information about us working in your home.
Please note this is only a guide and can be subject to change

We strive to stick to the programmed days of work to the best of our ability, but please be aware that we could encounter unforeseen circumstances that may cause delays. We will endeavour to correct anything that goes out of sync and maintain the programme progress where possible.

Typical Schedule of Works

Day 1 – Strip out old kitchen and / or bathroom
  • Please ensure the bathroom / all kitchen units are empty & worktops are clear before the site team arrive to start works in your home.  Any items left in these areas once work has begun will be taken away and put into the skip
  • If we are coming to work in your kitchen, think about setting up a “tea station” for yourself in the lounge; your fridge, toaster, kettle & microwave
  • We will remove all existing wall coverings, wall tiles, kitchen units & worktops / bath panel and flooring, and this work will be noisy & dusty
  • The kitchen / bathroom will be an empty shell once the strip out is complete
Day 2 – Electrics
  • We will chase into your walls, to enable removal of old wiring to sockets, switches & lights.  New cables will be installed, please note chasings will be plastered over during plastering works
  • Your electric will be turned off for several hours & your heating will not work during this time
  • This work will be very noisy, dusty & disruptive
  • We recommend that you vacate your property for this day, where possible
  • Clear access is required to kitchen, bathroom, consumer unit & roof space
  • We may lift floorboards to areas above kitchen & hallway
Day 3 – Plastering
  • We will complete plastering to all areas affected by the electrical and plumbing works
  • Please remember to keep furniture away from areas disturbed by electrical and plumbing works
  • Plastering works will create dust
Day 4 – Plumbing first fix and bathroom installation (if applicable)
  • Installation of new pipework for kitchen (sink, washing machine & gas cooker)
  • Installation of new pipework for bathroom
  • Installation of bath, wash hand basin and toilet
  • Please ensure kitchen / bathroom are kept clear of personal items
Please note, your water will be turned off during these works


Day 4 – Installation of new kitchen (if applicable)
  • Joiner installs your new kitchen units and worktop
  • Plumber installs your new sink and connects washing machine
  • Please ensure your kitchen is kept clear of personal items

Day 5 – Wall tiling
  • Wall tiling to kitchen / bathroom
  • Tiling works will create dust
Day 6 – Decoration
  • Decoration to kitchen / bathroom
  • Please be careful not to touch any wet paint.  Paint will remain wet for up to 24 hours
  • Keep children and pets away from freshly decorated areas
Day 7 – Decoration
  • 2nd visit for decoration to kitchen / bathroom
  • Please be careful not to touch any wet paint.  Paint will remain wet for up to 24 hours
  • Keep children and pets away from freshly decorated areas
Day 8 – Flooring (preparation works)
  • Self-levelling screed will be applied to solid (concrete) floors and plywood fitted to timber floors (floorboards)
  • Screed takes 4-6 hours to dry.  Please do not walk on screed until it is completely dry

Day 9 – Flooring
  • New floor covering fitted to kitchen / bathroom
Day 10 – Plumbing and Electrical 2nd fix
  • Installation and electrical connection of your new shower (where applicable)
  • Removal of plastic spacer boxes from sockets and switches
  • Sockets and switches screwed back to wall
Day 11 – Finishing works
  • Silicone sealant applied to worktops, flooring, new sockets & switches, bath and wash hand basin.  Plinths fitted to kitchen, and boxing in fitted (where necessary)
  • Worktops / the bath should be kept empty to allow us to continue working in these areas
Please note silicone will remain wet for up to 24 hours
Day 12 – Handover inspection
  • The Great Places Contract Surveyor will aim to inspect the completed work to your home to ensure that the work meets the expected standard.
