Emma Richman wins Woman of the Year award!

Emma Richman, our Director of Assets, collected the prestigious ‘Woman of the Year’ title at this year’s Women in Housing awards!

The awards, which are run in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Housing, celebrate the outstanding work and achievements of women in the housing sector. Winners were presented with their awards at a black tie event at Emirates Old Trafford on Thursday 11 October.

The ‘Woman of the Year’ category is new for this year and recognises real leadership, a personal commitment to supporting other women in their personal and professional development and a willingness to speak truth to power.

Emma received the award in recognition of her contribution to the sector throughout her career, and the inspiration she provides for women in housing. This is an incredibly proud moment for Great Places and a massive achievement for Emma. I’m sure that you will join us in congratulating Emma for this very well deserved win.

Emma said: "I'm really proud to have received this award – not in a million years did I think I would be the winner! I have been completely overwhelmed by all the messages I have had from colleagues and friends; it has been very humbling!"

Following her win, Emma spent a few days at the National Housing Federation National Asset Management Conference in Birmingham to speak on a panel about our response to Grenfell. She also chaired a session on consideration for asset managers in regard to modern methods of construction.

Other shortlisted colleagues included Emma Carlin (Young Achiever Award), Laura Talbot (Finance Professional of the Year) and the Social Impact Bond Team (Team of the Year). Congratulations to all nominees!
