Over 150 Great Places Housing Group customers attended the Community Stars Awards,
which are held annually at Gorton Monastery in Manchester to celebrate the inspirational achievements taking place in our communities across the North West and Yorkshire.
This year over 120 nominations were received – for both residents and colleagues – with 12 winners taking home awards from across our regions.
The Great Places Board also attend the event, and Chair Tony Davison kicked off proceedings. In his opening speech he said:
“This event is one of my favourite occasions in the Great Places calendar – a chance to celebrate those acts of kindness, bravery, determination and selflessness that make our communities shine. The community spirit and hard work of everyone in this room, whether customers or colleagues, are testament to the strength, energy and great ideas which have driven us to succeed, even in the face of adversity.”
Matthew Harrison, Chief Executive at Great Places, said: “Now in its fifth year, the Community Stars Awards is a chance for Great Places to recognise our customers who have achieved great things, both personally and for their communities. It was a real honour to be able to meet and congratulate the people behind these inspiring stories.
“The event was a great success – congratulations to everyone who contributed, and of
course to all our nominees and winners.”
