HCA Investment and the Bloc Partnership

Great Places has been a Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) Investment Partner since 2004.

It means we can secure grants and funding that help us deliver large development programmes throughout the North West and Yorkshire.

We retain this status and attract funding by ensuring we meet the HCA's required annual performance thresholds and compliance requirements.

In recent years, HCA funding, including the HCA's Affordable Homes Programme, has allowed Great Places to deliver thousands of much-needed affordable rent and Shared Ownership homes as well as accommodation that promotes independence and wellbeing for some of the most vulnerable people in society. We have recently secured further funding through the HCA's Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme.

Bloc Partnership — working together

We established the Bloc Partnership in 2004. Great Places lead the bidding for grants and the management of the affordable housing programme across the Bloc Partnership. The partnership seeks to achieve greater efficiency and high standards in the affordable new build homes sector, across the North West and Yorkshire.

Members include Ashton Pioneer Homes, Bolton at Home, Equity Housing, Peaks and Plains Housing Trust, Wirral Methodist and Mosscare St Vincents.

There is a co-operation agreement in place, signed by all members so that assurance, quality and efficiency is achieved. The main benefits of this Bloc Partnership include:

  • Collaborative HCA bidding — led by Great Places
  • Centrally managed programmes to promote consistency and accuracy
  • Ongoing management of timeframes throughout each project to make sure they are delivered to agreed targets
  • Sharing experience, knowledge and good practice to promote learning
  • Building strong relationships and communication channels with the HCA.
