Concluding our series of case studies from homelessness schemes in honour of World Homeless Day, here is NB's story...
NB was given accommodation at Meadow Lodge due to issues with anger management. Her mother had other children to look after and felt she was no longer able to cope. However NB had very few independent living skills and was therefore at risk of homelessness.
Meadow Lodge provided NB with 24 hour support. They supported her with a budgeting plan and encouraged her to maintain a clean and tidy home. She was also referred to counselling for anger management support, and was supported into a job to boost her confidence.
NB has now moved on to her own accommodation, living independently with little to no help. She has learned to handle conflict and control her emotions, and has good relationships with her family and neighbours. She has plans to secure employment and says that Meadow Lodge helped her address the issues she faced without judgment.
