Older people invited to dance their way to a healthy heart

OLDER Salford residents put on their dancing shoes for an afternoon get-together at St Luke’s Parish Hall off Derby Road in Seedley and Langworthy.

Line dancing was organised by Great Places Housing Group community warden, Melody Barber, whose post is funded by Help The Aged and Age Concern, as part of wider work to help older residents stay fit and healthy.

Melody also runs healthy hips and hearts exercise sessions at Emmanuel Church, Peterloo Court and the Cornerstone in Seedley and Langworthy every week.

She says: “This was a chance for people to let their hair down and have a bit of fun – plus tea and cakes - and get a workout at the same time.

“Keeping moving when you’re older is really important. Regular exercise helps to keep you supple, so you are less likely to trip or fall, and you can get out and about more.”
