Festive February party for Great Places’ older residents

OLDER tenants of Great Places Housing Group in Salford banished the cold weather blues with a fun, festive party.

About 150 residents gathered at the Masonic Hall in Hospital Road, Swinton, for a get-together with singing, dancing and a slap-up lunch laid on by their landlord.

Tenants from Openshaw Court and Ramsden Fold in Swinton, John Atkinson Court and Hawkshaw Court in Salford, Patton Court and Stanyard Court in Weaste and Heron Court in Eccles attended.

A line dancing session and music from Swinton singer Stephen Evans, aged 19, were all part of the entertainment.

Organiser Ann Birkett, who manages Openshaw Court and Ramsden Fold, said: “Staff and residents got together and decided to postpone the Christmas party to the new year.

“We all decided it was the perfect time to let our hair down, at a time of year when often nothing much else is going on.

“As it turned out, the party was especially welcome after all the freezing weather that meant residents couldn’t get out and about as much. It was just what we all needed!”
