Our war on waste
Every year in the UK over 22 million tonnes of waste are sent to landfill. At Great Places, we're trying to reduce our contribution - from offices, housing schemes, building sites and residents' homes.
Our target over the next three years is to reduce the waste to landfill sites from our offices by 50% through better recycling facilities and a reduction in the volume of waste generated.
We’re also actively working with local councils to provide better kerbside collections for our residents - focusing in particular on hard-to-reach homes, such as apartments.
Great Places is working with the Furniture Reuse Network to help our residents get hold of good quality furniture and essentials such as fridges and freezers. Find out more here.
Cutting waste starts at home and our tenants' committee has agreed that we can use some of our tenant dividend money to provide free compost bins for our residents. Read more here.
