Great Places Housing Group, the first exclusively northern housing association to issue a bond, is celebrating after bagging three awards in the space of a month.
The not for profit organisation adds the coveted What House? Housing Association of the Year (Bronze) award to its trophy cabinet, a notoriously tough category in which to be recognised.
This award win follows hot on the heels of Great Places’ triumph at both the North West and Yorkshire National Housing Federation’s Community Impact Awards earlier this month.
Great Places won the Better Health award for its three Extra Care projects which allow older people in Manchester and Blackpool to continue living independently, and are a far cry from traditional old people’s homes. Residents have their own self-contained apartments with their own front doors, but also receive a tailor-made support package to keep them happy and well.
From Rags to Richmond Park also won Great Places the Improving Neighbourhoods award for its impressive regeneration project in Sheffield which has changed the look and feel of an entire neighbourhood. The park is now a shining example of investment and positivity, rather than a place best avoided.
