Great Places Housing Group is in the running for more honours after being shortlisted for five prestigious awards.
The Manchester-based organisation, which owns and manages over 15,000 homes in the north, has scored a hat-trick at the prestigious First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards 2012 being shortlisted for Affordable Housing Provider of the Year, Best Urban Regeneration for its sophisticated South Beach development in Blackpool and Best Small Development for its tranquil, canal-side family homes in Rochdale. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 20 April.
The group is also in the frame to pick up two separate ‘green’ awards, making the shortlists for Best Large Green Business at The Chamber’s Greater Manchester Green Business awards and the Green Leadership Award for environmental officer Sarah McClelland in the annual Women in Construction awards. The winners will be announced at glittering ceremonies in Manchester on the 9 and the 14 March respectively.
Earlier this month the group was announced runner up in the Excellence in Equality category at the Tenant Participation Advisory Service Connecting People Awards (TPAS) 2012 for its innovative Community Interpreter scheme which helps people from Black and Ethnic minority (BME) communities to use their language skills in a more formal setting.
It was also pipped at the post in the MoneyactionNet awards 2012 which highlights projects that have been successful in helping social housing tenants to improve on managing their money. Great Places’ property services team also came close to bagging an award for Best Client in the National Housing Maintenance Forum Awards 2012.
